Re: Peterborough Area

  By: jw35 on April 18, 2019, 9:42 a.m.

We have real-time bus position data for Peterborough, but we don't currently have is the timetable data. That's becasue Peterborough falls in the 'East Midlands' timetable region and we only currently load data for the 'East Anglia' and 'South Eas...

Re: Bus Live Data Map

  By: jw35 on March 25, 2019, 10:30 a.m.

We think we understand the bogus 'Ghost Buses'. Originally the map only displayed a bus the first time the bus reported its position after the map displayed. This made it slow to start. We recently enhanced it to start up by loading the current po...

Yes, the small icons represents the last known positions of buses that we have been tracking but for which we haven't received a position report in the last few minutes. We don't entirely understand why we see quite so many of these, but failures ...

Further unpublished timetable changes

  By: jw35 on March 8, 2019, 10:22 a.m.

In addition to issues at the station (which also affect Drummer Street bus station) we are aware of a further Stagecoach service alteration that hasn't made it into Traveline National Dataset: the Traveline data shows a 6|Citi Mon-Fri departure fr...

Re: Changes to bus stop usage at the rail station

  By: jw35 on March 1, 2019, 12:49 p.m.

Here's an announcement by Stagecoach's about the change, with additional details. This announcement implies the new arrangements may be temporary and might revert at the end of March.

Changes to bus stop usage at the rail station

  By: jw35 on Feb. 28, 2019, 12:34 p.m.

It looks as if there were some changes to which services use which bus stops at the rail station early last week. For example, the southbound 7|City service to Sawston and beyond now goes from Stop 2 not Stop 3. The signs at the stops had still to...

Re: Station Board issue 2018 Dec 13th: national service problem

  By: jw35 on Dec. 17, 2018, 9:55 a.m.

This issue was resolved by National Rail Enquiries at about 16:00 on the 13th and has been stable since. We have subsequently made some changes at our end to make us slightly more resilient against this particular problem in the future.

Re: Station Board issue 2018 Dec 13th: national service problem

  By: jw35 on Dec. 13, 2018, 12:13 p.m.

We've reported the problem upstream to National Rail Enquiries who have acknowledged that the problem is at there end. As yet we have no ETA for a fix.

Re: Cancelled bus services

  By: jw35 on Nov. 5, 2018, 2:12 p.m.

In the context of Smartpanels, this all means that we can't definitively say that a service has been cancelled. The lack of a real-time data icon against a service that should be on the road is a big hint that it has been cancelled, but it could o...

Re: Cancelled bus services

  By: jw35 on Nov. 5, 2018, 10:40 a.m.

By a cancelled bus service I'm assuming you mean something like 'The 0715 departure from Drummer Street to Little Wibbling last Thursday', rather then 'The Citi 7'?

As it happens I've been doing some work to match the real-time position informati...

Sorry for the lack of response. I'm chasing this up with the people concerned.

Re: Car park data problems

  By: jw35 on Oct. 8, 2018, 10:02 a.m.

The Maddingley Road sensons were re-fixed on the evening of Mondy 24 September. I think this means we are currently recieveing correct(-ish) data for all the car parks that we monitor.

Re: Car park data problems

  By: jw35 on Sept. 21, 2018, 8:53 a.m.

Current status:

  • The Newmarket Road Outer sensor seems to have been working much more reliably since 14 August.
  • It looks as though the exit counter at Maddingly Road briefly sprang into life on 17 August, but since then the car park has been regi...
