Re: Today's a Bank Holiday, but...

Thank for reporting this. It's the result of a bug in our bus timetable parsing (the published timetables use a nightmarish representation for 'exceptional days' operation that we've never entirely got to the bottom of). I'll remind everyone of th...

The new zones went live last week (though we've yet to load past data). My thanks to everyone to who helped design them.

I believe that we are already in contact by email about this request.

For everyone else's benefit I should mention that we are close to being able to release a web-based API that will give access to the car park occupancy, traffic, and air qualit...

...and, as of this morning, it should be fixed (along with a number of similar breakages that we found at the same time). Thanks again for reporting it.

The County Council tell us that:

  • The sensor loops for the exit counter at Madingley Road have been damaged and they are arranging for these to be re-cut and connected up.
  • That Newmarket Road Front P&R car park uses an old radio based system ...

The perils of linking to other web sites, lt looks as if what was http://www.connectingcambridgeshire.co.uk/smartcamb/ has become https://www.connectingcambridgeshire.co.uk/smart-cambridge/. Thanks - we'll get it fixed.

Thanks for all the feedback. Based on that and other input our revised zone map now looks like this:

Newer zone map

Changes from the last version include:

  • Splitting Hills Road into two zones, one on either side of the train station
  • Adding Brooklands Avenue,...

At least P&R Milton does seem to be working again, having apparently been broken since at least December 2016!

Re: Possible new zones

The answer is probably to split the existing Hills Road zone into two, one finishing (inbound) at Hills Road Bridge and one starting beyond Station Road. The second one would then be quite short - i could extend past the Catholic Church junction, ...

It looks like Elizabeth Way has Milton Road P&R buses traveling north on it, but the southbound buses use Victoria Avenue.

Re: Possible new zones

Thanks.

It looks as if the open-top tour bus (for which we get popsition reports) goes north on that route, but nothing goes south.

Likewise we get a reasonable number of reports from buses traveling north on either Elizabeth Way zone, but ver...

Possible new zones

  By: jw35 on July 31, 2018, 10:01 a.m.

We are looking at revising the zones in which we monitor traffic speeds. The current zone map looks like this:

Current Zones

A possible future map looks like this:

Future Zones

We'd welcome feedback on this before we commit ourselves and deploy the changes. The logic ...

Minor improvements 2018-07-30

  By: jw35 on July 30, 2018, 10:38 a.m.

We've just deployed a few minor improvements to the SmartPanels:

  1. A work around for occasional failures in our upstream feed of weather forecasts that means we can continue to display the last good forecast we received until we get the next good ...

Re: Operational Issues Updates

The work around I mentioned above has now been deployed so we should not now be afected by short outages from our data provider.

Thanks - that does look good. Do you have any view on how good the forecasts are (i.e. how well their predictions match reality)?

FWIW we have a work-around for the Met Office feed problem involving caching the 'last known good' API response and ...
