Re: Platform details for train departures

  By: jw35 on July 24, 2018, 12:11 p.m.

Thanks for the input - I've noted this for posible future deveopment. At the very least we could probably make including platform number an option that SmartScreen managers could opt into.

Re: Combining bus stops into a single display

Thanks for pointing that out. It looks as if those short identifiers turn up in the NaPTAN stops database 'Indicator' field ('Bay 6', 'Stop S3', 'Stop 4', 'Stop E1', etc.) so they are at least accessible to us. Trouble is, 'Indicator' is less use...

Re: Platform details for train departures

  By: jw35 on July 23, 2018, 12:25 p.m.

I can't quite remember, but I think we do get platform information (at least for some stations and services, though not all). I think the logic for omitting it was partly to do with screen "real estate" but mainly becasue 'Smart Screens' are likel...

Re: Combining bus stops into a single display

It's not currently possible, but we realise it would be useful and it's certainly possible.

The major dificulty is working out how to display which stop each journey will depart from without taking up too much space. For the station it's easy bec...

Re: Step Fee Routes

  By: jw35 on July 19, 2018, 9:48 a.m.

Smart Panels aren't journey planners. Their function is to provide real time transport information to help inform people's journey decisions. Currently we don't have any real time information that's related to walking so issues about step free rou...

The SmartPanel 'Bus Timetable' widget

  By: jw35 on June 29, 2018, 4:06 p.m.

Processing and displaying bus information is the most complex part of what the SmartPanel does, so the 'Stop Timetable' widget is worthy of detailed explanation. For your first SmartPanel layout you would be advised to stick to the Weather, Train ...

Re: Car park data problems

  By: jw35 on June 19, 2018, 2:50 p.m.

The city-centre car park feed failed again between 2018-06-18 20:02:05 and 2018-06-19 12:57:04. However this time we managed to investigate and believe that we've implimented a fix.

If you care, it seems that the web server from which we retrieve...

Car park data problems

  By: jw35 on June 12, 2018, 1:55 p.m.

We've recenty been havng some problems with our feeds of car park usage data. Our feed of data for the City Centre car parks wasn't working between 2018-05-03 and 2018-06-04, and seperately our feed of data for the Park & Ride car parks hasn't...

Re: Bus Live Data Map

  By: jw35 on June 12, 2018, 9:19 a.m.

We have observed this too. There is nothing in the data we currently recieve that would alow us suppress such reports. Future work involves better matching of position reports to routes and the timetable which should alow us to detect buses that a...

Re: Bus Live Data Map

  By: jw35 on June 7, 2018, 8:50 a.m.

Thank you, that's a good point. We haven't been activly working on the bus map recently, but a recent deployment has switched the default to one that uses a different internal communication method to access the real-time bus data. As you point out...

Historic car park usage

  By: jw35 on May 15, 2018, 4:03 p.m.

Our primary focus is on maintaining a real-time data processing platform, but we do maintain a historical record of the data we process. I'm currently working on a Web-based API that will make some of this historical data available for reuse. To g...
